On December 12, 2011 Dr. Ozcan Saritas delivered a seminar "The Use of Methods for Extracting and Compiling Knowledge for Foresight".

Dr. Saritas, Research Fellow at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (University of Manchester, UK), and Editor of Foresight journal said that Foresight uses methods as means to explore ideas, acquire information and data, clarify situations and negotiate solutions. The range of methods and techniques that are applied in Foresight has been growing rapidly with an increasing number of electronic applications. This offers an opportunity for more tailored design of approaches and techniques to fit the context and purpose of specific endeavours. However, the way methods are used in Foresight is also contested.
Ozcan Saritas provided guidance on the role and use of Foresight methods, and key challenges through a review of applications and analysis. Basic premises, advantages and disadvantages, and knowledge requirements when using methods were presented based on experience and case studies.
